Dog training: Behavior problems
Dogs are the BEST pets available. Their loyalty, trainability,
and personality make them wonderful companions. Behavior problems,
however, can be frustrating and can drive you crazy. But they don't
need to. With proper training you can get rid of all of your dog's
behavior problems.
Does your dog chew your shoes? Does he dig in the backyard? Does
he jump up on you or on visitors? Dog behavior problems come in
many shapes and sizes but they all have one underlying similarity.
They are giving you headaches.
When you deal with behavior problems the first thing you must do
is understand why your dog is doing the behavior. Dogs perform behaviors,
both the good and the bad, because they like them. If your dog is
displaying these behavior problems it is because he gets some enjoyment
out of digging, or chewing, or excessive barking. By understanding
what is driving your dog to do these naughty behavior, you can “flip
the switch” in his mind, and make these once fun behaviors
become not so enjoyable. By effectively altering his associations
towards certain behaviors, you can actually modify his behavior
to whatever is acceptable in your home.
