To care for an American Cocker Spaniel you will need to groom their coat at least twice a week to keep it free of matting and tangles. This breed is prone to gaining extra weight so it is important to provide your Cocker with lots of exercise. Some of the activities that they love include playing fetch and going for walks. Cocker Spaniel, also referred to as the American Cocker Spaniel
or the Merry Cocker, is an American breed that descends from the
Spanish Spaniel. The American Cocker Spaniel is a small dog that
stands between 14 and 15 inches and weighs between 24 and 28 pounds.
Their coat is short on their head and medium length on their body.
It is soft and silky and comes in a variety of colors including
black, brown, blonde and liver. Originally used for hunting purposes
this breed is rarely used today in the field. They are bred more
for the show ring and for companionship. Because of popularity in
recent years this breed was overbred by many. The result was dogs
with behavioral problems. Make sure to research breeders before
deciding on your puppy.
