Dog breeds: Greater Swiss Mountain Dog
Back to list of breeds
The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, also called the Grosser Schweizer Sennenhund and the Great Swiss Cattle Dog, is a Swiss breed. It was originally created to be used as a working dog. Today this breed is used as a watchdog and as a family pet.
The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog stands between 25.5 and 28.5 inches
tall and weighs between 130 and 135 pounds. They have an excellent
temperament for families with children and other pets. They are
not dog aggressive, however, they have an instinct that may cause
them to chase smaller pets. Training and socialization may help
to fix this problem.
