Dog training - teaching the 'break' command

There is one essential command that every dog must learn with regards to dog training. That command is to ‘break’. Dog training, by nature, is somewhat stressful for a dog. No matter what method you use to train your dog you are essentially teaching him to submit his will to yours, and this causes stress. In teaching your dog to ‘break’ on command you will not only reward your dog for his good behavior but release some of the building stress caused by dog training.

You’re in luck. This is the easiest command ever to train. The key is to associate great fun with the command ‘break’. During your next dog training session at any given moment give the command ‘break’ and start acting like a fool. Jump around, push your dog playfully, pet him, pick him up, speak in high pitched tones. After doing this for a few moments return to the obedience training.

During any given 10-15 minute obedience session you should employ the ‘break’ command several times intermittently throughout the session. In doing this you will be accomplish several things. You will significantly reduce the amount of stress associated with dog training obedience. You will increase the amount of pleasure for your dog and he will associate dog training with fun and excitement. You will also notice that your dog will be more receptive and will learn new behaviors quicker. Finally, you will notice that your own pleasure with dog training will increase.

Teach the ‘break’ command and you will make a much happier dog and owner.
