The Lakeland Terrier is an English breed that was developed as a digging and hunting dog. Today this breed is still used as a hunting dog, as well as a family dog. They are also suited to work as watch dogs. This breed is relatively rare and it is somewhat uncommon to find one.

Because they are a terrier they can be described as tenacious and bold. It is a good idea to get your dog into obedience training at a young age in order to establish the proper relationship.

The Lakeland Terrier stands between 13 and 15 inches tall and weighs between 15 and 17 pounds. They have a thick, hard coat that is water resistant. They come in a variety of color combinations including blue and tan, black and tan, red and gray, liver, black, red, wheat, and blue.
