Dog Training FAQ

Dog Training FAQ

My dog with my new lover messes on the floor when we are together(and out of his sight). Could this be a jealous reaction? He has never done this with my previous boyfriend(he was very attached).

I have heard many people and even some dog trainers speak of a 'jealous dog' theory. Personally I don't believe that dogs experience or feel jealousy. I think this is just a case of anthropomorphism or humans ascribing human attributes to non-humans.

A drastic change in dog behavior is usually caused by a new stimulus which causes stress. Your dog is stressed out and this is how it manifests itself.

I recommend that you get your new partner to bond with the dog. Get your partner to obedience train the dog and take the dog on walks and feed the dog. This should eliminate the stress your dog feels and eliminate this new behavior.
