Dog Training Pinch Collar FAQ

Dog Training Pinch Collar FAQ

I have a great dane and he doesn't listen to me ouside, especially when he sees another dog or rabbit he goes crazy and pulls on the leash as hard as he can. Would a pinch collar help? If I start using a pinch collar is there ever a time where the dog will eventually not need it and then we can go back to a regular collar?

Thanks for the question.
Yes a pinch collar would help but only if used correctly. I am an advocate for the pinch collar as I believe it to be the most humane and effective dog training tool. With the least amount of force you are allowed the most amount of leverage in dog training.

My recommendation is that you use a pinch collar and obedience train your dog both in the house and outside with distractions. Read some of my articles about how to obedience train your dog at Obedience Training Pages. Once you have obedience trained your dog you have the option to use a regular collar or to go into more advanced off-leash training.

However far you decide to take your training you must give basic obedience training to your Great Dane. A Great Dane without obedience training will quickly turn into a menace.
